Mission

Out of the DarknessInto the Light

Shining Light Sanctuary supports Veterans, at-risk children and youth, and their families as they move from darkness and trauma toward hope and restoration — through animal-assisted activities and farm life in Peaster, Texas.

A Texas sanctuary where Veterans, at-risk children and youth, and their families grow alongside our Gypsy Vanner horses through animal-assisted activities, farm life, and life-skills education. Every program is free.

Our Purpose

Shining Light Sanctuary supports Veterans, at-risk children and youth, and their families as they move from darkness and trauma toward hope and restoration.

We offer animal-assisted activities, farm-life experiences, animal husbandry, life-skills education, and seasonal camps and events that build confidence, trust, communication, and respect — a safe, uplifting space where individuals grow stronger, reconnect with purpose, and strengthen the communities they call home.

How it works

No diagnosis. No paperwork.
No cost. Just show up.

You arrive

Reach out and we set a time. There is no referral to chase, no intake fee, no clinical hoop to jump through. Veterans, youth, and whole families are welcome.

You meet the herd

Grooming, feeding, groundwork. A horse responds to how you carry yourself, not to what you say — so trust gets rebuilt in the body first, alongside a mentor who has done this before.

You come back

This is measured in weeks, not minutes. Regular time on the ranch, seasonal camps, and farm-life skills turn a good afternoon into steadier ground.

The need

Some wounds never show up on a chart.

How we help

Three pillars,
one quiet purpose.

All programs are free of charge.
